Color coding
I'm sure a lot of you already color-code your calendars. Color coding is essential if you're sharing or viewing calendars on top of calendars... on top of calendars.
- Hover over the calendar name on the far left side of your screen.
- Click the three vertical dots.
- Choose a color.
Search feature
It can be hard to remember when a meeting or event last occurred. Use the search feature! It's a huge time saver.
- Find the magnifying glass at the top of your Google Calendar screen. 🔎
- Type a keyword or person's email address.
- Boom! Google Calendar will list all events with that keyword or person.
Recurring events
This feature is powerful when trying to commit to a new habit. Consider viewing a data set, running a report, or checking in with an individual. Recurring events are the answer. To quote my sister, what goes on the calendar gets done!
- Create a new event.
- Click on the date to expand options.
- Click where it says Does not repeat to see more options.
- Choose frequency.
Google Calendar app
I'm all for clear boundaries between work and home, and I would never insist someone have their work email on their phone... but! I believe there is value in having your digital calendar on your phone. As an iPhone user, it's been my experience that Apple Calendar doesn't cut it. Google Calendar app keeps me organized to-the-minute on-the-go!
How did I find the time to draft this blog post? I blocked out time on my Google Calendar! Do you have favorite Google Calendar tips or tricks? Please share them below.
